The marvels of the Tibetan Language – A daylong workshop with Professor Fabian Sanders

Morning Session:

In this introductory workshop, Dr Sanders will show the unique qualities of the Tibetan language, and focus on its symbiotic relationship with the teachings of the Buddha, as inherited and developed in the Land of Snows.

Topics and their underlying themes will be presented in clear and understandable terms, using examples that illustrate Tibetan’s unmatched capacity to express ideas and concepts and describe the complexities of the workings of the mind.

We will explore the relationship between mind and language and their shared domain through dialogue and interaction and see how language can be a means to transcend its dimension. Accuracy in using words is of great importance and as a first step, we will introduce the thirty letters of the Tibetan alphabet, concentrating on the way seed syllables are written and pronounced.

This day-long workshop is designed to benefit both those who have had no introduction to the Tibetan language and others who wish to review and extend their knowledge of its principles through practice.
